The Metamorphosis – The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is one of the best metaphorical novellas. One fine morning the protagonist of the story, Gregor Samsa discovers, that he has metamorphosed into a horrible insect. Who Moved My Cheese? – It is a self-help book about how to cope with change when you are least prepared for it. You will find a detailed review of the book in my feed.
The Little Prince – It’s speculative fiction. The author sees the little prince in a desert where he has crashed his plane. The little prince is meeting people from different planets. It appears as a children’s literature but it has an eternal significance. Every people has different interpretations of this book. I won’t spoil the mood of reading the book but one of the most accurate things the book shows is how adults ruin a child’s creativity.
The Yellow Wallpaper – The female protagonist of the book is sick, but her husband and brother conclude it as “temporary nervous depression – a slight hysterical tendency”. she imagined her as the woman who crawled behind the wallpaper of her room. The story shows how patriarchal society imposes its own views on women and forbids them from doing things like writing. It also highlights the importance of mental health.
These books may be 100 pages, but they are also interesting, and there is some valuable learning.
