"Atomic Habits" is all you need in your everyday life

Updated: Feb 9, 2021

"Atomic Habits" by James Clear is a guide book depicting significant small changes that one can make to change their habits. The book is named "Atomic Habits" for the same reason. We always think we need to take that big step to change our lives. But it is small steps that matter more.

The book starts with the inspiring story of the author's own life and hurdles he faced and how he improved his life and recovered from a deadly accident.

I got a clear perception of how habits work after reading "The Power of Habit" and why it's hard to get rid of bad habits. With a parallel description of human behaviors, the pattern of habits, the book continuously emphasizes making small prominent changes in your life.

Instead of focusing on the goal, focus on the process of achieving the goal. A successful or unsuccessful person can set the same aim, but it's the process that makes one successful.

The book also describes the impact of our environment on our habits.

The small changes described in the book are very realistic. Let me give you an example. If you want to stay hydrated for the whole day, your first task should be to fill your bottles and put them in a specific place where you will be most of the time, as your study table. Thus you'll be making the cues of good habits obvious. The book mentions other small changes too that you can use in your everyday life.

The concept of each chapter is tied internally, and as a whole, they make a minimalist system. The language is simple.

If you've read "The Power of Habits" then you should read this one too. If you are trying to adapt some good habits or being productive but failing to do so then this book will guide you perfectly. You can have a better perception about adapting productive habits by reading the book.
